Turkey Day. This holiday is all about one thing, and I don’t mean being thankful. It about FOOD! At least that’s what most of us think about anyway. Oh sure, we go around the table talking about what we’re thankful for, but only after our pre-dinner snacks, then filling up our plates two or three times, and finally hunkering down for some pie and ice cream. But what does this mean for all of that hard work you’ve put in on your body this past 11 months?
You can survive and still enjoy the holiday! It’s all about portion control. No one says you have to take two giant scoops of potatoes, or a giant slice of pie! What I like to do is use the indented center portion of my plate as a guide. I don’t fill up the plate so much that the food is pushing the edges. IF I eat all that and I’m still hungry, or maybe want to try something I skipped last time, I again just use the middle. This allows me to sample everything while still keeping my portion and calories somewhat under control. Before you know it you’ll be full and satisfied 🙂
